Bahn Mi - We'll tell you where to go!

In every community, certain local treasures capture the hearts (and in this case, the taste buds) of locals and visitors alike.

These delights often spark inquiries at our Visitor Information Centre and ignite lively discussions on our local social media pages.

We tell it all in our “We’ll tell you where to go!” series.

Bahn Mi This is the first article in the series, and we dedicate it to Banh Mi.

Banh Mi is a Vietnamese baguette sandwich that blends French and Vietnamese culinary traditions.

At its core, it features a crusty French baguette with a light, airy interior and crispy exterior. What distinguishes banh mi are its layers of flavour: typically filled with pork or chicken, enhanced by a smear of mayonnaise or pâté, crunchy vegetables (like carrot, radish, cucumber) while fresh coriander, Thai basil, and spicy chilli peppers provide aromatic and spicy undertones.

This combination of textures and tastes, along with the sandwich's portability, has contributed to its widespread popularity as a beloved street food and casual dining option around the world.
