11 Stories from The River Dyarubbin

Leanne Mungo Watson ArtworkThe eleven audio walks share stories of the river, between Yarramundi and Sackville, guiding listeners along the Hawkesbury River.

Use your own device to listen to stories of Dyarubbin / The Hawkesbury River; the history, ecology and culture of this place and original music inspired by them as you walk along the river.

Underscored by original music, the audio walks are designed to inspire, inform and deepen the listener’s experience of the river.

They include stories of the Dharug people and their enduring relationship with Country; colonial settlement and frontier violence; farming, floods and famine; local ecology; use, development and sustainability; and more.

11 Stories from the River Dyarubbin is a collaborative work led by composer and producer Oonagh Sherrard, with input from more than 80 participants – including Dharug knowledge-holders, locals, experts, students, creatives and organisations.

Explore the 11 stories below and listen on location, or from wherever you are.

The 11 audio walks can also be listened to on Apple Podcasts and on Spotify.
